An electric transfer cart is a powered flat-bed vehicle for moving heavy loads between fixed stations on a production floor. Unlike forklifts, it follows a defined route with high repeatability and minimal operator input.
Dafang’s Electric transfer carts are efficient material handling equipment for modern factories, warehouses, and logistics centers. Dafang Crane, a Chinese company with 20-year manufacturing experience, supplies tracked and trackless models to clients in over 30 countries in steel, automotive, logistics, and precision manufacturing.
Dafang Crane offers seven drive configurations, from low-voltage rail types to fully autonomous AGV units. Each model suits a specific combination of route geometry, power supply, duty cycle, and working environment. Moreover, every unit has CE certification and conforms to ISO international quality management.
Powered by electricity, these transfer carts have strong load capacity, stable operation, zero emissions, and low noise. They enable automated or semi-automated point-to-point transportation for heavy objects like steel, molds, and parts, reducing labor costs and improving logistics efficiency. They are the core auxiliary equipment for modern industrial production.

Choosing the wrong drive type is the most common procurement error. The table below maps each type to its working conditions:

| Type / Series | Load Capacity | Speed (m/min) | Power Method | Best For |
| Low-Voltage Tracked (KPD) | 2–100 t | 0–30 | 36V via rail | High-temp, high-freq fixed routes |
| Battery-Powered (KPX) | 3–100 t | 0–20 | On-board battery | No fixed power; curved/S-shaped track |
| Cable Drum (KPJ) | 5–100 t | 0–25 | 380V cable reel | Cross-span runs ≤200 m, round trips |
| Conductor Rail (KPC) | 2–100 t | 0–30 | 380V busbar | Long runs, assembly line continuous duty |
| Cable-Towed (KPT) | 2–50 t | 0–20 | Ground-towed cable | Short runs ≤100 m, low cost |
| Trackless (BWP) | 1–100 t | 0–20 | Battery | No track, 360° steering, multi-route |
| Light AGV Intelligent | 0.5–35 t | 0–90 | Battery + auto-nav | Smart factory, unmanned operation |
Speed figures show maximum continuous running speed. Route geometry and duty cycle, not load capacity alone, determine the best type.

Henan Dafang Crane has designed and manufactured industrial material handling equipment since 2006, with dedicated transfer cart production beginning in 2008. The company supplies tracked and trackless transfer carts, overhead cranes, gantry cranes, electric hoists, and lifting accessories to clients in more than 30 countries. Engineering, manufacturing, and after-sales support operate from one integrated Henan production base. Contact the Dafang engineering team to discuss drive type selection, route layout, or a custom cart specification.

Tracked models suit fixed, repetitive routes with high cycle rates. Trackless models work better when routes change, when floor installation is impractical, or when 360° manoeuvring is required. Route geometry matters more than load capacity in this decision.
The structural frame and drive system last 10–15 years under normal maintenance. Battery packs in KPX and AGV models need replacement approximately every 2.5 years. Wheel set intervals depend on duty class and floor surface.
Yes. Interlocked PLC control allows the crane and cart to share a work zone safely, preventing simultaneous operation. This setup is standard on automated press-line die change systems.
Concrete floors need a load rating matched to the wheel contact area, at minimum flatness class FM2 per DIN 18202 or equivalent. Steel plate floors also work. An epoxy coating reduces rolling resistance and extends floor life under polyurethane wheels.
Yes. PLC models support Modbus/TCP or Profibus integration with SCADA systems. AGV models include onboard diagnostics and fleet management software as standard. Retrofit kits are available for older units.
