Straddle carrier is a tire-mounted heavy-duty lifting and handling equipment to replace general gantry cranes for oversized loads or containers. Featuring the straddling load design, it connects to top lifting points via a spreader, enabling seamless picking, transferring, and unloading operations.

With a load capacity of 10-50 tons, lifting height of 10-13 m, and a span of 18-35 m, this specialized container equipment adapts to diverse project requirements, featuring three travel modes (longitudinal, transverse, crab travelling) and compatibility with concrete, asphalt, or compacted gravel pavements.

Clients mostly and widely use this container straddle carrier in ports, docks, railway hubs, road freight stations, and large warehousing facilities.It can horizontally transport cargoes or containers from a dock to a container yard. And it can also stack and unload 2-3 layers of containers within the yard. Furthermore, its structure allows it to span container pillars and railway tracks, significantly improving container handling efficiency.

Straddle Carrier Structure

The straddle carrier features a modular structure for reliability and adaptability, mainly relying on four core systems.

Its load-bearing structure includes double girders and a portal frame, adopting high-strength steel to withstand 10t–70t loads and 18–35m spans.

The travel system comprises heavy-duty tires (6–14 units), individual wheel suspension, and full-directional steering mechanisms, enabling longitudinal/transverse/crab movements.

The hoisting system integrates a container spreader (compatible with 20’–40’ containers), twistlocks for secure clamping, and hydraulic winches for smooth lifting.

The control & power system includes a PLC control cabinet, operator cab (with ergonomic controls), and diesel/electric/hybrid power units.

In addition, safety components like overload sensors, lifting limiters, and anemometers are integrated into the main structure for real-time protection.

Port & Container Logistics: Users apply this container straddle carrier for loading, horizontal transportation, unloading, and stacking of containers. It can realize 1-to-1 to 1-to-3 stacking of 20-foot /30-foot /40-foot containers without railway infrastructure. Ideal for container yards, stacking and transporting without additional equipment. And it is also suitable for open or semi-closed terminal environments.
Infrastructure and Bridge Engineering: Users utilize it to handle precast concrete beams, bridge segments, large steel components, and other infrastructure materials.
