Dafang Electric Hydraulic Grab Bucket (clamshell grab bucket) is usually used as a spreader for overhead cranes or gantry cranes, to complete the material gripping work. A: Lifting capacity is the maximum load the grab bucket itself can safely lift (including the weight of the material). Grab weight is the weight of the empty grab bucket mechanism. The actual payload capacity = lifting capacity − grab weight. Always verify the net payload meets your material weight requirements.
A: It's designed for bulk, loose, or irregular materials including scrap steel, pig iron, slag, sand, gravel, crushed stone, coal, ore, and similar commodities. For highly abrasive materials (e.g., quartz, corundum), choose a grab with reinforced wear plating. For hot materials (molten metal, hot slag), specify a heat-resistant model.
A: The grab bucket is powered by an electric hydraulic station. When the hoist lifts, the hydraulic pump automatically engages, forcing the cylinders open or closed via the pendant control. No external power packs or additional operators are needed — the open/close cycle is controlled directly from the hoist pendant.
A: Regular checks include: inspecting hydraulic hoses and cylinder seals for wear or leaks (monthly), lubricating pivot bearings and pins (weekly), checking tooth wear and replacing cutting edges as needed, and inspecting structural welds and bolts for cracks (quarterly).
